So, Who Silenced Me After All?

Up until the middle of May, I was writing regularly on Medium across a series of publications as diverse as The Lark, StoryMaker, Illumination, The Riff and others; posts ranging from my own poetry, to flash fiction, creative non-fiction, album and song reviews; I can safely say it was an unprecedented creative flourish of my own work in my life.

And then it stopped — I stopped.

As if by some form of divine intervention, a certain muse by the name of Rose Butcher, like manna from above, lovingly nudged my sorry ass by asking us all why we weren’t writing the things we wanted to write.

Having become a DIY expert at self-inquisition over the past five years (for reasons I will share in this essay), this was already something I had been quizzing myself about, anyway. And, while I knew the answer in my head, my ADHD certificate in procrastination had kicked in. Besides, for people like me, with a million stray thoughts a minute in every possible direction, clarity only…
